A Watford motorcyclist has won a ‘substantial’ amount of compensation, after suffering serious head injuries in a road traffic accident.
Twenty eight year old David Scott Buchan was involved in a collision with a car just half a mile away from his home in Leggatts Way, Watford.
The accident left Mr. Buchan fighting for his life, after sustaining injuries to his ribs and spine as well as serious head injuries which have left him with long term depression, anxiety and fatigue.
He also suffers with impaired vision and his brain injury has also affected his sense of taste and smell, he has been unable to return to work since the accident and now has to walk with the aid of a stick.
Mr. Buchan made a claim for motorcycle accident compensation from the car driver’s insurers, who agreed to pay damages based on the premise of one third liability.
The exact amount of compensation Mr. Buchan will receive has not been revealed but was quoted in court as being a ‘substantial sum’, even with the deduction of two thirds.
Mr Justice Langstaff approved the settlement at London’s Royal Courts of Justice and praised David’s mother Ann, for showing extraordinary love and devotion caring for her son.
