The family of a grandmother, who was run over by a police car, are reported to be seeking compensation on her behalf.
Beryl Evans was injured whilst crossing the road in Penrhyndeudraeth towards the end of last year. She was struck by a police car as she crossed, and suffered terrible injuries.
Mrs Evans suffered fractures to her thigh, arm and elbow in the incident. The injuries mean that the 91 year old is unlikely to walk again. She now lives in a nursing home despite living independently before the accident occurred.
The officer who was driving the patrol car was found not guilty of careless driving at a Magistrates court recently. Mrs Evans’ family though are reported by the Caernarfon Herald to have launches a compensation claim on her behalf.
The family tell the paper that the accident has robbed Mrs Evans of her independence. It has also reportedly had a negative impact on her memory, and any compensation money received will go towards giving her the support she needs to make her life as comfortable as possible.
