A mother and her son who were hit by a falling concrete block are making a personal injury compensation claim for the injuries they suffered in the freak accident.
Lisa and Louis Walker were walking along the pavement beneath a housing development in Chester when the incident occurred. It was reported to the Chester Chronicle that at the same time, a crane was lifting the concrete block when it unexpectedly fell. It luckily hit a wooden board as it dropped which helped reduce its impact as it rebounded on to the pavement.
It missed hitting the heads of the astonished pedestrians by inches as they had no time to move between the shouts of ‘look out’ and the block hitting the floor. They were not lucky enough to escape injury however. Louis was hit on the leg and is being treated with pain killers. Lisa injured her ankle in the incident. They both feel traumatised by the accident, Louis in particular.
The Health and Safety initiative has been informed of the incident and the 34 year old mum and her son are now making a claim for compensation for their injuries. The operators of the site – Watkin Jones Homes – have wished Louis a speedy recovery.
