Motorcyclist Claims £2.5m Compensation following Car Collision

A motorbike rider who suffered life threatening injuries, after being involved in a collision with a car, is seeking £2.5 million in compensation.

Wales Online is reporting that twenty eight year old Darren Braund, from Barry, in South Wales, was travelling along the Cardiff Road on his Yamaha R1 motorbike, when he was involved in a collision with a Vauxhall Corsa.

Mr. Braund suffered a serious head injury in the accident and was in a coma for two weeks as a result of his injuries, the father of two suffered moderately severe brain damage, which has left him without the use of his left arm, epilepsy and other complaints.

He has now launched a claim for road traffic accident compensation against the female driver of the Corsa, claiming that she was negligent by making an unsafe right turn directly into the path of his approaching motorcycle.

The claim which has been submitted to the High Court also refers to the fact that the woman, who comes from the Barry area, now has a conviction for ‘driving without due care and attention’, as a result of the collision.

It is understood that Mr. Braund is seeking in excess of £2.5 million in compensation due to the severity of his injuries.
