It has been reported that four workers were injured as they worked setting up the stage for the Superbowl. The stage – used for the spectacular half-time show – was being assembled in Miami, Florida when the four volunteer workers were allegedly injured. It was reported that they were helping move equipment and set up a rehearsal stage when a piece of the larger half-time stage fell over. Emergency crews were quick to respond and treat the injured. Allegedly two of the four were airlifted to the local Jackson Memorial Hospital by helicopter, however their condition was not thought to be serious.
The incident was reported to have happened at 8:00pm February 2nd at the Sun Life Stadium Miami. The volunteers would be eligible to make a work accident claim for compensation for the incident if it had happened in the UK. Such compensation claims provide financial help to victims when an employer has not ensured their safety in the workplace. The Superbowl went on to be a great success with New Orleans winning the coveted trophy and The Who performing a spectacular half-time performance on the stage.
