Terrifying Theme Park Ordeal for Special Needs Boy

At 1pm yesterday at Camelot Theme Park, based in Chorley, a 12 year old disabled boy was seen dangling by his feet from the Excalibur 2 ride, before finally falling 30 feet to the ground, his injuries were such that he was then airlifted to the Wigan Royal Infirmary.

His injuries are now thought to be none life threatening, a statement was given by the infirmary saying he was comfortable and improving slightly, they were however unwilling to state the full extent of either the injuries or how long he would be hospitalized.

An investigation is being carried out by both police and the Health and Safety Executive, Camelot is said to be fully co-operating and stated,

‘The safety of visitors to the park remains our number one priority. Every ride undergoes a daily, pre-opening safety and maintenance check throughout the season and is subject to an annual, independent safety inspection.

‘Excalibur 2 will remain closed until our internal investigation is concluded and the HSE confirms that the ride can re-open.

‘As our internal enquiries are ongoing, we are unable to provide any more details at this stage.’

The Excalibur 2 is a white-knuckle ride that spins thrill-seekers around on a rotating arm.
