A man has been arrested after failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic accident that he had caused.
A 17-year-old motorcyclist had to have his lower leg amputated as a result of the crash on the B3153 in Somerset.
The motorcycle collided with a van, driven by a 56-year-old man. The van was overtaking a bus that was dropping off passengers. The driver hit the oncoming motorcyclist but did not stop and carried on driving.
When police caught up with him, he was charged with failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic accident, failing to report a road traffic collision and driving a car without due care and attention.
He has since been released on Police bail while they gather more evidence from witnesses.
