A woman is pursuing a motorbike accident compensation claim for the sum of £300,000 after suffering devastating injuries in a crash.
The Plymouth Herald newspaper is reporting that Lesley Williams was travelling on her motorbike down the B3252 road in November 2007, when she attempted to overtake a Suzuki Vitari 4×4 vehicle driven by David Marks. She signalled that her Honda CBR 600 sports bike was overtaking and pulled out. As she was overtaking, it is alleged that the Vitari suddenly turned right without warning into the entrance of Looe Bay Caravan and Camping Park. The right turn went straight into the path of Ms Williams and caused a serious accident.
She suffered serious injuries in the collision, including compound fractures to her right arm and leg. She also shattered her pelvis in the accident. She has been unable to work since the incident and is still under medical supervision for her injuries.
Ms Williams is now suing for damages in the region of £300,000. In a writ issued at the High Court she alleges that the accident was caused by the negligence of Mr Marks. The negligence in question concerns failing to check if it was safe to make a right turn, and driving into the path of a fellow road user making a legal overtaking manoeuvre.
The outcome of the case will be decided at a later date.
